- There are 175 park sites within the Rockford Park District, containing 4,833 acres of land covering 125 square miles.
- The largest park is Anna Page Conservation Forest with the dry dam, containing 993.23 acres.
- The smallest park is Northwestern Park with .42 acres.
- The oldest parks are Haight, Haskell, Vogt, Williams, Fair Grounds, Sunset, Crawford, Riverview, Blinn, Myott and Hulin Parks, given to the newly formed Rockford Park District in 1910 by the City of Rockford to control and maintain.
- The first park purchased by the Rockford Park District is Sinnissippi Park, and the purchase occurred in 1909 as one of the first acts of the newly formed Park Board. Black Hawk Park was purchased a few years later (1911) and was once the site of the Rockford Zoo featuring "Babe" the elephant, a buffalo named "Gus", and a Bengal Tigress named "Lily."
